About the Performers

Matthew Presidente
Referred to as “one of — if not — the best singer/songwriters our LGBT scene has” by Xtra Magazine (Vancouver), Matty has performed among headliners such as Ace of Base, Dragonette and even shared a stage with Patti Smith! He’s showcased his original material at notable music venues such as The Roxy, The Railway Club, The Backstage Lounge, XYYVR and Numbers Cabaret. An advocate for queer art, he has been enthusiastically recognized on the Vancouver Main Stages (for over 12 years!), across the country, and internationally. Most recently he toured the mountains of BC for Peak Pride spreading queer entertainment through the province.

He’s currently recording a new full band album with songs speaking of loss, life changes and ultimately evolution. You can hear the first single, ‘A-List’, now on all streaming platforms.

Hank Pine
Queer artist Hank Pine bends genres and funnels them through his kaleidoscopic lens into epic, lyrical songs that wrestle with the big questions through wry dark humour and catchy sing-along choruses.

Jandrou
Alejandro Quinteros’ (aka Jandrou) passion for music started at a young age in a small church in his home country of El Salvador. Each week, together with the congregation he sang with conviction. Believing the words that came out of his mouth was a powerful feeling. It was when he felt closest with God. Ironically, the same place that sparked his passion for singing also instilled a feeling of hate towards himself for being different, for being queer. Growing up in a Christian household in conservative El Salvador was difficult. He learned to embrace his true self, his quirks, virtues, demons and desires after he moved to Vancouver, Canada. It was by fully immersing in Emily Carr University of Art + Design that he discovered and welcomed the different ways to live the human experience, outgrowing the extreme conservative ideas that had been ingrained in him while growing up in El Salvador. Through songwriting, the artist was able to process hardship and heal from it. It made the thoughts, feelings and internal struggles tangible. It helped him understand and process what he was going through while giving him purpose. He wrote down his thoughts as sentences, paragraphs, and poems, a skill he would later use to create his first EP.

Music has become an important cornerstone for how the artist has developed, who he looks up to and how he forms communities. As a queer Latino immigrant artist, Jandrou has a unique and fresh perspective to bring to the Vancouver music scene. The queer and BIPOC communities need more individuals to contribute to a collective voice, and he hopes to contribute his through music. His goal is to represent his home country of El Salvador. To serve as an example for what is possible regardless of sexual orientation for the young people that still struggle with their unique identities.

Born in the 2000s as a fictional anime character, Jandrou stands alongside the outcast, the queer, and the underrepresented. He stands by those who have much more to show the world, to solidify that artistry doesn’t need to fit the mold.
