If the walls of the Pretty Package Piano Bar could talk… Well, to be honest, we couldn’t tell you those stories. An icon of its era, it’s been the birthplace, and funeral ground, for a lifetime’s worth of careers. Once known as the place to be, alas, times have changed. Visit now, and you’ll notice the paint is chipping, the lights weakening, the sound firmly, yet calmly… fading.

Yet in all of this, its performers, the beating hearts of the venue, remain. Resound in their desire to perform one last time, they are the lifeblood that has given the Pretty Package its final chance to glimmer like it used to, on this, it’s final day.

Ella. Has been performing at the Package for as long as she can remember. She’s grown up within these confines, breathing life into its ash-infused air. Known as “The Starlet” this is her one last chance to wow those that have gathered to pay their respects on this last faithful night.

Matty. The maestro of the keys has been playing the Package’s iconic grand piano from the very beginning. Some might say the keys even bear the marks of his repeated playing. This is his one last chance to paint a sonic picture within these confines he’s come to call a home.

And then, there’s Toddy. The Ingenue. With business fading, the owners decided to make a last ditch effort to bring back the crowds, bringing in a young and talented up-and-comer, in hopes that they could revitalize the venue. Alas, it wasn’t enough to save these hallowed halls.

Now staring down the inevitable, these performers are resound in their desire to put on the Finale, a location as iconic as the Pretty Package, deserves.

Just when all seems ready for the showtime, however, an unexpected guest challenges them to look back into their past and resolve to lead them into the future. Will this actually be the end of the Pretty Package, or will the show go on?

Join us for a heartfelt show blending classic songs, original pieces, comedy, burlesque and more.

About the Performers

Ella Lamoureux

Ella Lamoureux is one of the founding performers of the Kelowna drag scene. From Kelowna’s Next Drag Superstar drag competition, Embodiment, #2muffs1collr, to recent star on Call Me Mother, Ella has carved out her place as one of the most influential and stunning drag performers in Kelowna. A makeup artist by trade, Ella will eternally tease you with her beauty. But, watch out if you displease her — that tongue is quick and sharper than you think! She’s generally “as sweet as cherry pie” and she brings so much love and joy to the community. A true charmer, Ella Lamoureux is Kelowna’s Sweetheart.

Toddy

Toddy is a high energy drag performer, standup comedian and singer-songwriter. Toddy has most recently been featured in OutTV’s new drag reality series “Call Me Mother”, and was the Season One Winner! Trained as an opera singer, they often find themself at the intersect of classical music and mainstream media. As a comedian, Toddy has been featured on CBCLOL, JFL42, JFL Northwest and the Portland Queer Comedy Festival. They are the number one shrill icon!

Matthew Presidente

Rock/pop pianist/singer/songwriter Matthew Presidente (he/him/his) has been a part of the music scene in Vancouver for nearly 20 years. Independently recording and releasing 6 full-length albums, he has been involved in a wide range of musical collaborations and performances. A local Metro Vancouver resident, Matthew was raised in Tsawwassen, where he began playing piano at 10 years old. Since then he has gone on to master guitar and percussion but considers himself a piano player by trade. Referred to as “one of — if not — the best singer/songwriters our LGBT scene has” by Xtra Magazine (Vancouver), Matty has performed in rosters among headliners such as Ace of Base and Dragonette.
