LEATHER & LOVE

THE MATTHEW PRESIDENTE BAND

Queer themed musician Matthew Presidente (he/him/his) has been a consistent part of the Vancouver music for many years. Independently recording and releasing 6 full length albums, he has been involved in a wide range of musical collaborations and performances. Referred to as “one of — if not — the best singer/songwriters our LGBT scene has” by Xtra Magazine (Vancouver), Matthew has been showcasing his original material with standing shows at notable local music venues (The Roxy, The Railway Club, The Backstage Lounge, XYYVR and Numbers Cabaret to name a few) as well as international stages and festivals both in person and virtually. No stranger to the Vancouver queer community, his involvement in Vancouver Pride has seen him enthusiastically recognized on the pride Main Stage, as well as being a featured performer at the International Outgames at the Plaza of Nations among headliners Ace of Bass and Dragonette. Likely the highlight of his career, Matthew was on stage with Patti Smith for a guest appearance – it’s a story!

After nearly two years of virtual sessions (see Matthew’s YouTube series ‘World is Watching’ or ‘More Keys’ on the unicorns.live platform) Matthew is back with his 4 piece rock band bringing an explosive energy to his infectious, glamorous songs. With long time friend/collaborator Pedwell on the lead guitar/vocals, Mikey Chamzuk on the drums and Ian Malinski on the bass, you can expect a high energy show with an unmistakable flair.

EACHOTHERSMOTHERS

Eachothersmothers is a locally grown band from lower mainland BC, Canada. They are made up of Anthony Reynolds on bass, Zeph Pages on drums, and Giuliano Patane on guitar and vocals. They have been playing together since 2019 and have participated in, and facilitated charity shows for local and worldwide causes dear to them such as the Fraser valley floods and the war in Ukraine.

They each bring their own influences and perspectives to the group to form what has become their signature sound that they call psychedelic post punk funk

Giuliano’s zany inflections and raw tone of his vocals are highly influenced by Serj Tankian and Kurt Cobain, while also pulling from the groovy melodies of Rick James and JMSN. His guitar style is heavily influenced by jazz and funk chords but with the aggressive speed and over saturation of punk.

Anthony’s synth like fuzzy bass style is influenced highly by Viagra Boys, while his dancey melodies draw from Parquet Courts and Bootsy Collins. His driving energetic rhythms pull from sounds like Idles and Fugazi. He pulls from these influences in a way that creates harmony amongst the wide variety of sounds that impact the groups perspective.

Zeph’s hard-hitting and groove-based style of drumming is influenced by a wide range of genres and artists, from the raw and unbridled energy of Queens of the Stone Age and the sludgy grooves of EyeHateGod to the danceable rhythms of Donna Summer. His love of Summer has him contributing a four on the floor approach that grounds the band

With such a wide range of influences and styles, you may hear bits and pieces that you would recognize but their overall sound stands out as something entirely unique and their own.
