Review:

    Night Eleven at numbers was a lot of fun. The show itself was not the best - there were some sound issues, and some drunken performances, but overall it was quite entertaining! Matt kicked things off solo, but a shaky performance of the old song LAST NIGHT I DREAMED THAT WE BOTH DIED didn't quite start things off right. Rose Record joined him for a lovely AS I GO ALONG, but unfortunately the sound issues spoiled the gorgeous tune.
    Jenn Boyd got up and started rockin' the house for awhile with tunes like WALKING WOUNDED, the pixies' HOLIDAY SONG, and tori amos' PLAYBOY MOMMY.
    Two very special guests finished off set one, the first being GEMMA AIRD who hasn't performed with matt since high school! Together they did a ten minute Liz Phair medley where they summed up the career of one of their favourite singers! The medley was very fun and very silly! The next special guest was brad pedwell who has quite a history with Matt of course, brad did one of his new songs solo, and then as a duo they did two old favourites RESTITUTION, and HALLOWEEN which led into the usual jam of slayer's RAINING BLOOD - this one tore the roof off of numbers!
    Set two was very good - Christopher Doucet opened it up where he brought up his friend Travis Jones, and together they did some amazing stuff - IN THIS LIFE by chantal kreviazuk, and RIVER by joni mitchell were particularly memorable! Casey was the next guest and she was lovely. A rather unprepared LIVE TO TELL was not a hilight, but a gorgeous performance of GOD BLESS THE CHILD was more than redeeming.
    Matt and Jenn Boyd finished the set off together in style with WHEN YOU FALL and a rockin' climax of THE SLOW AND PAINFUL DEATH OF MATTHEW PRESIDENTE. For the encore prince's PURPLE RAIN with beautiful purple lights to send all the drunks home (matt was the biggest drunk... ashley and jenn weren't far behind!)
