Review:

Tonight was a very strange FEELIN' GOOD. First of all, it was the first performance in the history of the show where Brad Pedwell did not perform. Poor brad is sick at home with mono (makin' out with too many Homos at the dufferin!) and will not be at the show for an undetermined length of time. So Matt grabbed the bull by the horns, threw together some of his favourite friends and guests (Sam Masich, John Henville, Meghan Engle, and Devon) to make the show a very special and unique one!
Matt kicked off the show with a beautiful performance of FOOTPOOLS an old song he doesn't do very often. In set one his solo portion featured many piano-only Brad Pedwell songs - the highlight of which was RESTITUTION. Matt also did loving covers of LAY IT ON ME and BELIEVE. The Bon Jovi song BED OF ROSES was a true crowd pleaser! Definitely the best performance of this song yet! Devon came on stage for HOW MANY which was kickin', and then John henville joined matt for the 2nd half of the first set and sang some cool cover songs - WEEZER'S BUTTERFLY, Jack Johnson's IT'S ALL UNDERSTOOD, and his own hits GOT TO FLY and EN RAISON all accompanied by Matt on piano. John Henville also did a more than adequate job of fillin' Brad's big boots on FEELIN' GOOD (the song) where John put his own spin on brad's lil' rappy-hoo! The duo finished the set the usual way with the brooding MATH CLASS which brought most of the audience to tears, several left weeping. Without brad's guitar the song sounded a lot different but the audience clapped percussively at the proper parts, and john henvilles backing vocals were second to none.
The second set was a doozy. Man, was it ever. Matt had the amazing, gorgeous Meghan Engle playing violin through her new effects pedal for the entire set. Matt kicked it off with a new song HALLOWEEN that has only been performed once, and Meghan's eerie violin really added to the mood. LAST NIGHT I DREAMED THAT WE BOTH DIED was a real hit too - sounded gorgeous with the violin. Matt and Meghan also performed the entire song (including key change!) of Celine Dion's MY HEART WILL GO ON. Hearts went on during this performance! Sam Masich came on stage and sung for the 2nd half of the 2nd set - the trio covered three hedwig songs: Origin of Love, Wicked little Town, and Wig in a Box. As well they did two Sam classics MADE OF LOVE and MOHAWKS. A rockin' version of JOHNNY B. GOODE was also in the set.
What a night what a night!
