Review:

A wonderful show tonight from matt & brad! The audience was excellent - a good crowd of about 30 or so filled up mickey's lounge to see show # 17 of the feelin' good series. The duo opened the evening with SOMETHING TO LIVE BY a definite crowd favorite. OH GIRL followed which really gets everyone rocking' especially matt cause he starts to improvise in the middle about pornography and fucking! In set one matt performed PRIORITY which was the feelin' good debut - this short cute little number was a tip of the hat to young fan JOHN HENVILLE who was busy looking for jobs - matt said to him in this song "[hey john, you've] gotta get [your] priorities straight" ah ha ha ha ha. SAVANA and SNAKE EYES were particularly moving this evening.
The stage setup was cool tonight with a giant piece of artwork featuring a scary woman's face. This added to the dimly lit, romantic, yet fun ambience of the evening. Leonora and her friend Katerina did girl sandwich this week, and Leonora opened it with an intense, moving performance of PAIN. Matt & Brad's second set was chocked full of surprises! Brad left stage to drain his pickle and Matt took center stage with Sam on the guitar so sing ORIGIN OF LOVE which really got the crowd pumped. Then Gemma Aird joined matt on stage for the amazing THE DONNA SONG a song they wrote together years ago! Brad returned with LAY IT ON ME the entire audience was screaming MURDER MURDER! Wow! You'd think they were a bunch of serial killers not matt & brad fans! The duo debuted WILLOW for the first time at feelin' good, and it sounded pretty good. The set closed with Brad's believe, complete with changed lyrics in the chorus to reflect brads bad mood: "with a little HATE i can break down anything". Wow. that's dark. An encore followed, Matt & Sam did more hedwig with WICKED LITTLE TOWN, then an old jazz number AUTUMN LEAVES, and brad came back up for the grand finale, matt's INSECURE IMMATURE with brad on lead vocals! A powerful closing number!
Look forward to April 14th, 15th, and 16th as there are rumors about a 3 night recording session for FEELIN' GOOD and Sam's act - if this all works out a live CD will follow shortly!
